What is a TM44 Inspection?
The inspection looks at how your system is installed, maintained and used—identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption, lower running costs and improve overall performance.
Who Needs a TM44 Inspection?
You are required to have a TM44 inspection if:
- Your building has air conditioning systems with a combined output of more than 12kW
- The system is used within a commercial property (e.g. offices, retail, hospitality, etc.)
- The system has not been inspected within the last 5 years
This applies to both single large systems and multiple smaller systems that together exceed the 12kW threshold.
What Does a TM44 Inspection Involve?
During the inspection, an accredited assessor will:
- Review your air conditioning systems and their output
- Assess how efficiently the system is operating
- Check maintenance records and system condition
- Identify areas where improvements can be made
- Provide a detailed report with recommendations
You’ll receive a certificate and report confirming compliance, along with practical advice on improving efficiency.
